5 Tips to Uplevel Your Skin for Fall

5 Tips to Uplevel Your Skin for Fall

It’s officially Fall.  And if you live in a climate that is changing, you are probably feeling a big difference in your skin.

Fall means cooler weather, drier air, gusty wind and less sunlight. Changes that can make our skin feel less hydrated, tighter and more susceptible to sensitivities, discoloration and uneven skin tone.

How can you uplevel your skin care routine for the fall, to make sure your skin keeps healthy and looking vibrant?

Here are 5 tips to improve the way you take care of your skin this fall:

1️⃣  Exfoliate!

But do it gently. With the climate change from warm humidity to cooler drier air, our skin can start feeling and looking dull and flaky.

One of the best things we can do to combat this, and support our skin’s natural regeneration process, is to exfoliate at least 1 to 2 times per week.  Our skin needs a little help navigating the seasonal transition from the warm moist summer air to windier and drier days and nights. We suggest using gentle powders, like oat flour, chickpea flour and rice flour and dampening with some warm water to cleanse and exfoliate your face.

Try this easy DIY gentle exfoliating scrub recipe:

  • 1 TBSP of Oat flour, chickpea flour or rice flour.
  • ¼ tsp of Matcha green tea powder.
  • 2 tsp of warm water
  • Mix into a paste and apply to a clean damp face, massaging in small circular motions.
  • Use a warm wet washcloth to wipe away.

2️⃣  Hydrate your skin as much as possible.

We recommend using products that contain ingredients called humectants, which naturally pull moisture from the air and deliver it to our skin. These kinds of ingredients are most often found in gel serums, that include hyaluronic acid, as well as thicker cream moisturizers that combine together waters and oils.

3️⃣  Nourish your skin with plant powered nutrients that include vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids.

The change of season puts stress on our skin’s most basic functions, like protecting us from environmental stressors, and supporting our body’s immune system.
So, one of the best ways we can ensure our skin stays resilient and fortified, is to feed it the nutrients it needs to maintain its health. Plant oils, like our Pracaxi Oil, Acai Berry Oil and Passion Fruit Oil are loaded with antioxidants, trace vitamins and minerals and a wide range of unique essential fatty acids that have the power to repair and restore our skin and make it look years younger.

4️⃣  Repair the sun damage from the summer.

We can do this by using plant oils like Pequi and Buriti, which are high in beta carotene, the precursor to vitamin A, which has been shown to effectively reverse sun damaged skin. By applying only a few drops of either Pequi Oil or Buriti Oil to your existing moisturizers, you can make a great impact on reversing the damage caused by too much sun exposure.

5️⃣ Seal in Hydration.

We can do this by consistently oiling up our skin.  That means using body and face oils regularly, before showering or immediately after is going to protect and avoid dry skin.  By applying oil directly to damp skin, we are effectively sealing in the hydration, and helping our skin become more pliant and looking more vibrant.  Try using the below blend of our specialty plant oils, for a luxurious and nourishing after bath body massage.
